Eight of Swords
The Eight of Swords represents a feeling of helplessness and a victim mentality that grows out of restricted thinking. Bound by one's beliefs, one refuses to see the future and is frozen in indecision.
This card shows Subaru, fists clenched in frustration after Seishirou has eluded him once again. Subaru has essentially devoted his life to finding Seishirou, giving up the future he had as head of the Sumeragi family. Now he is trapped in his own obsession, unable to corner the assassin but unable to turn way from the hunt.
