Six of Pentacles

"She's got the measure of Crouch better than you have, Ron. If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." - Sirius Black

The Six of Pentacles creates a balance between generosity and selfishness, giving and taking away. It shows the importance in considering both sides of having/lacking power, wealth, or knowledge. Charity is reflected in this card, whether with the subject as the giver or the receiver.

The power balance between wizards and house elves is an issue about which few wizards would give a second thought, since the elves are magically obligated to obey their wizard masters without question. By showing compassion and generosity, however, Harry is able to earn the genuine loyalty of Dobby, and eventually Kreacher - both tremendous assets that orders and bullying could not have achieved.
